Jan. 7, 2011 - The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police arrested a man this morning after he robbed the Wells Fargo banks’ Savannah Mall branch.
Just before 10:00 a.m., a man entered the Wells Fargo Bank located at the Savannah Mall and demanded money. The tellers did as they were told, and the man ran from the bank.
He unsuccessfully attempted to jump into a vehicle with a mall customer as they exited the parking lot, and then ran toward the Ramsey Run Apartments near the mall.
Officers responded and within minutes located a man fitting the description of the robber, arresting David Johnson, 25,who was taken into custody. He had a pillow case containing an undisclosed amount of money, a mask and a cap gun in his possession.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation will be investigating the robbery and federal charges are forthcoming according to SCMP.
