Limousine chauffeur applicants approved by the Regulatory Compliance Division on and after July 1, 2012 must take their approval letter to a DDS Customer Service Center (CSC) to have the ‘C’ endorsement added to their Georgia driver’s license. Once the endorsement is added, the certification will be valid for the term of the driver’s license, unless the driver’s license becomes cancelled, suspended, or revoked.
All chauffer permits issued prior to July 1, 2012 (the existing blue permits) will remain valid until their expiration date. If a valid chauffer permit is lost, a replacement document will not be issued by the Regulatory Compliance Division after June 30, 2012. Rather, the chauffer will need to visit a DDS CSC to obtain a driver’s license with the ‘C’ endorsement. For these cases, the ‘C’ endorsement will only be valid for the period defined by the original chauffer permit.
The application fee for the chauffeur certification remains $15. The fee for electronic fingerprinting (GAPS) is $50.15.
An updated version of the chauffeur application form and instructions for GAPS can be downloaded from the DDS Web site, www.dds.ga.gov.
Please also be mindful that the DDS will be issuing Secure ID Driver’s Licenses effective July 1, 2012. Customers renewing their driver’s license, changing their license class, or reinstating their suspended driver’s license will be required to provide documentation to prove their identity, Social Security number, and residential address. For more specific information regarding the Secure ID program, please visit http://www.dds.ga.gov/secureid/index.aspx.
As always, it is our goal to provide faster, friendlier, and easier customer service to the citizens of Georgia.
