SBJ Special Report

Jan 9, 2012 - The Georgia Chamber of Commerce formally introduced Edward J Heys, Jr. as the 2012 Georgia Chamber Board Chairman at its winter board meeting held Monday in Atlanta.

Heys – who serves as the Atlanta and Birmingham Managing Partner for Deloitte & Touche LLP – succeeds 2011 Chair Doug Carter.  The Chamber also recognized its 2012 Officers during the meeting.

“Ed has been a vital part of our Board for many years and we are extremely fortunate to have someone with such a great amount of business knowledge, leadership experience and commitment to the future serving as our 2012 Board Chair,” said Georgia Chamber President and CEO Chris Clark.  “His vision for how we can enhance Georgia’s business climate and compete globally for jobs will be a tremendous asset to our organization and the state as we seek effective solutions to today’s challenges.”

“I have been involved with the Georgia Chamber for a number of years and I can honestly say this is the strongest this organization has ever been – thanks in large part to its sound leadership and board participation, an extensive network of regional partners and local chambers, and the investment of our members,” said Heys.

“With so much momentum heading into this new year, I am confident we will successfully continue the Chamber’s efforts to grow business, create jobs, and compete in the global marketplace.”

Heys has been an active part of the Chamber for over a decade, most recently leading the Chamber’s 2011 membership campaign which posted its most successful effort in Chamber history – raising over $2 million.

Joining Heys on the Chamber’s 2012 leadership team are the following officers:
