Aug 22, 2011 – If you’re in the building trades or the real estate business, there’s no excuse for not understanding the changes ahead as the City of Savannah and Chatham County update their zoning ordinances.
The Metropolitan Planning Commission has added more public sessions for information on the draft release of the Unified Zoning Ordinance that has been under development for more than two years.
Here’s a list of of upcoming sessions as part of the MPC’s efforts to insure that a broad section of the community is aware of the proposed changes:
- Monday, August 22, 2011: MPC Planners host an Open House meeting for members of the public with questions or comments about the Unified Zoning Ordinance. 5-6:30 p.m., Arthur Mendonsa Room, 112 E. State Street.
- Tuesday, August 23, 2011: MPC Planners will address the Savannah Ministerial Association with a presentation and question and answer session on the Unified Zoning Ordinance, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Holy Spirit Lutheran Church 37th and Reynolds Street.
- Thursday, August 25, 2011: MPC Planners will address the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA) with a presentation and question and answer session on the Unified Zoning Ordinance, 9-10 a.m., Arthur Mendonsa Room, 112 E. State Street.
- Monday, August 29, 2011: MPC Planners host an Open House meeting for members of the public with questions or comments about the Unified Zoning Ordinance. 5-6:30 p.m., Arthur Mendonsa Room, 112 E. State Street.
On Tues., Aug. 30, 2011, the MPC staff will then update the Metropolitan Planning Commission on the Unified Zoning Ordinance, and begin a review of the document at the MPC’s meeting at 1:30 p.m. at Arthur Mendonsa Room, 112 E. State Street. Jack Butler, Comprehensive Planner for Chatham County-Savannah, Metropolitan Planning Commission, is leading the zoning update process and overseeing the public input.
