SBJ Staff Report
Jan 3,2012 - The Savannah Economic Development Authority (SEDA) will host its seventh annual luncheon Fri., Jan. 6 at the Savannah Intl Trade and Convention Center. Keynote speakers will be Chris Cummiskey, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Chris Clark, President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Cummiskey will talk about Governor Nathan Deal’s Competitiveness Initiative and its goals for the future of job creation in Georgia. The Competitiveness Initiative was created by Governor Deal to assess the state's current strengths and weaknesses, gather information and ideas from leaders from various regions and industries, and develop recommendations that will ultimately stimulate job creation and economic growth. Led by Cummiskey and Clark, the Competitive Initiative Committee also includes SEDA board member Steve Green.
The annual meeting is designed to give the Authority the opportunity to report to the community on its yearly activities, address matters of interest and serve as a forum to install newly appointed board members. Outgoing board members whose terms have expired will also be honored. SEDA’s new Chairman and Executive Committee for 2012-2014 will be announced.
Limited seats remain. The cost is $40 per person or $320 for a table of eight. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with networking followed by lunch at noon. For more information and to reserve seating for SEDA’s annual luncheon, visit seda.org or contact Meghan Butler at 912.447-8450.
