MARCH 14: Ten HunterMaclean Attorneys Honored as Georgia Super Lawyers for 2011

NEWS - Law

Three others named 2011 Rising Stars

Atlanta Magazine recently recognized 10 HunterMaclean attorneys as Georgia Super Lawyers in its March 2011 issue.

The prestigious Georgia Super Lawyers honor is given annually to the top five percent of attorneys in the state, as chosen by their peers and through independent research by Law & Politics, a magazine which published the first list of Super Lawyers 20 years ago.

HunterMaclean attorneys recognized as Georgia Super Lawyers include:
• LeeAnn W. Aldridge - real estate law
• T. Mills Fleming - health care law
• Wade W. Herring II - employment & labor law
• Frank S. Macgill – tax law
• Christopher W. Phillips - construction litigation
• Janet A. Shirley - estate planning & probate
• W. Brooks Stillwell III - real estate law
• John M. Tatum - business litigation
• Harold B. Yellin - real estate law
• Arnold C. Young – civil litigation defense

HunterMaclean’s attorneys were selected after ballots were sent to Georgia lawyers who have been licensed in the state for five years or more. Listed in the Georgia Super Lawyers 2011 publication as well as in a special edition of Atlanta Magazine, the attorneys are organized by their primary areas of practice.
Each year, Law & Politics sends a ballot to the active lawyers in a given state or region who have been in practice five years or more. The ballot asks lawyers to nominate the best attorneys they have personally observed in action. The intent is to discourage votes based purely on reputation.

Lawyers may nominate others in their firm, but only if they nominate an equal or greater number of attorneys from other firms. Each vote a candidate receives carries a point total, with votes from lawyers outside the nominee’s firm weighted greater than votes from within the firm.

Super Lawyers candidates are then grouped by firm size and by region. The top candidates from each group are selected to form a final list that comprises approximately five percent of the total number of lawyers in the market. The Super Lawyers list includes private practice attorneys as well as public prosecutors, in-house counsel and public service lawyers.

Georgia Super Lawyers also recently honored three HunterMaclean attorneys as 2011 Rising Stars. All Rising Stars are 40 years of age or younger or have been in practice for 10 years or less.

HunterMaclean attorneys recognized as 2011 Rising Stars include Bradley M. Harmon for business litigation, Bates Lovett for general litigation and Colin A. McRae for transportation and maritime law.

The list of Georgia Rising Stars, which represents more than 60 practice areas, is published in the March 2011 issue of Atlanta magazine and in a special issue of Georgia Super Lawyers: Rising Stars, which is mailed to every attorney in the state.

“It is an honor for three of our top young attorneys to be selected as Rising Stars,” said Frank S. Macgill, managing partner at HunterMaclean. “Each of these hard-working individuals certainly deserves this recognition.”

Every year, Rising Stars honors the top young lawyers in Georgia as chosen by Georgia Super Lawyers and through the independent research of Law & Politics. Only 2.5 percent of Peach State attorneys are named Rising Stars.

Rising Stars are typically selected based upon ballots sent to the most recent group of Super Lawyers, which consists of the top five percent of attorneys in the state. Super Lawyers then vote for the best attorneys who fit the age and experience criteria.
