Oct 24, 2011 - Young Professionals of Savannah (YPS), a community-sponsored organization of young professionals and entrepreneurs in the Greater Savannah area, has announced a number of upcoming activities for current and future members. The group is dedicated to providing professional development, networking and encouraging community service.

The group will meet this Thurs, Oct. 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. at Jazz'd Tapas Bar located on 52 Barnard St., Savannah. YPS AfterHours is an opportunity to network with members of Savannah's most visible professional organizations, while enjoying great food and drink specials. The event is free to attend, attire business casual. Attendees should bring plenty of business cards for professional networking, an important learning skill the group encourages.

And attendees will have an opportunity to win a pair of tickets to Geekend. Jake Hodesh with The Creative Coast Initiative will make a brief presentation on the upcoming event in Savannah in November.

The next YPS Board Meeting will be held on Mon, Nov. 7 from 6-7:00 P.M. at ThincSavannah at 35 Barnard St., Suite 300, Savannah. The 6th YPS Anniversary Party Committee Meeting will follow at 7 P.M.

And the YPS’ 6th Annual Anniversary Party will be held on Thurs, Nov. 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Saya Lounge  at 109 W. Broughton St., Savannah. The event proceeds will benefit the Savannah Children's Choir Scholarship Fund. Through Tues., Nov.15, discounted event tickets are being sold online for $15 for YPS members, $20 for guests, and $35 for a pair.

Raffle tickets are $10 for (5) tickets, $15 for (10) tickets, and $20 for (20) tickets, all on sale currently. Tickets include hor'deurves by Two Moons Catering, a drink ticket, live performance by SOAP, silent auction by Desotorow Gallery, and more. 

Those unable to attend are encouraged to donate directly to The Savannah Children's Choir online, a courtesy provided by DonorCharge, on the YPS website.

And, YPS needs volunteers to help with the event.  Contact YPS Events Coordinator Selia Mitchell for more information.  Shifts are for one hour and for meet & greet, raffle prize station, silent auction station, and sign-in table - volunteers only pay $15 discounted YPS Membership pricing for event ticket (in advance or at the door).
