Nov 28 - Governor Appoints Deal and Anderson to State Boards

Nov 28, 2011 - Julian I. Deal of Statesboro has been appointed to the State of Georgia’s Board of Accountancy. Deal has been a certified public accountant since 1966.

He is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Bethany Home Inc., and the Georgia Southern University Athletic Foundation.

He is also a past president of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants where he was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Award and Public Service Award for the organization.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business education from Georgia Southern University, is the recipient of Georgia Southern University’s Alumnus of the Year Award and was inducted into the school’s Business Hall of Fame.

And, Governor Nathan Deal has named Glenda E. Anderson of Savannah to the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Board.  Anderson retired as the director of the City of Savannah Research Library and Municipal Archives in April.

Her professional venues have included the American Library Association, the Georgia Library Association, the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators, the Society of Georgia Archivists, the Georgia Records Association, and the Savannah Heritage Emergency Response.

She is a past recipient of the McJenkin-Rheay Award from the Georgia Library Association for her work as a young librarian, as well as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Board.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Armstrong State College and a master’s degree from Emory University.
