Real estate professional Lauren Marshall recently joined the property management office of Cora Bett Thomas Realty & Associates as property manager. In her position, Marshall will provide the professional experience needed to maximize the income potential for property homeowners in Savannah.

“Lauren’s background in client services, property management and her professional demeanor are great assets,” said Cora Bett Thomas, founder and CEO of Cora Bett Thomas Realty & Associates. “Our firm and our clients will truly benefit from her extensive experience and knowledge.”

Marshall comes to Cora Bett Thomas Realty after working in the multi-family housing industry in Savannah, as well as Hilton Head Island and Columbia, S.C. She brings 11 years of experience in property management specializing in new construction projects. She has worked extensively with the Savannah Apartment Association and was an integral member in the establishment of the Beaufort Apartment Association. Her knowledge and experience with apartment management translates well with landlord /tenant relationships.

Tech. Sgt. Michael D. Fowler has earned promotion to the senior non-commissioned officer’s rank of master sergeant. MSgt. Fowler serves as a flight line crew chief working in the aircraft maintenance office at Savannah’s Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), Georgia Air National Guard. The CRTC is headquartered across the airfield from the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport.

In addition to his flight line duties, MSgt. Fowler serves as the quality assurance inspector for maintenance, which includes routinely parking, servicing and launching all types of DoD/Non-DoD aircraft arriving/departing the CRTC aircraft ramp for training or in a transient capacity. Military units from across the country and from all branches of the service regularly visit the CRTC to hone their war fighting skills, ensuring they are fully prepared for service.

A veteran of 22 years of military service, his past assignments include service with the 5th Bomb Wing on B-52H's in Minot, N.D., F-15 Eagle Fighter Aircraft with the 116th FW Dobbins Air Force Base and he served as a crew chief of the B-1B Bomber "Memphis Belle" with the 116th Bomb Wing at Robins Air Force Base. His service also includes deployments in Operation Southern Watch and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Saber Security & Investigations, LLC, a leading full-service security company with offices in Savannah and Atlanta, is pleased to announce the recent promotion of Delicia Sanders to site supervisor at a local manufacturing plant.

In her new position, Sanders will execute an array of security duties including crime prevention, crime reduction, maintaining order and reporting suspicious activities. Additionally, she will oversee additional security officers to ensure that all security compliance and efficiency standards are surpassed.

Sanders recently graduated with an associate’s degree in Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Savannah Technical College. She also received her Georgia 24-Hour Security Training Certification in February 2010.

Six Georgia Southern University staff members have been recognized for outstanding customer service by the state of Georgia.

Mike Head, assistant director of University Housing received the Governor's Commendation in Customer Service. The award recognizes meritorious actions that enhance the public image of customer service or improve the way customer service is provided in Georgia. Recipients are selected on the basis of consistent high levels of performance and/or going above and beyond the call of duty in the performance of their jobs while still accomplishing their normal job responsibilities.

Five university employees were recently recognized as winners of the 2010 Chancellor’s Customer Service Awards. These awards were created to honor University System of Georgia employees that have gone “above and beyond” their normal job responsibilities in helping their internal and external customers and consistently promoting customer service excellence. These prestigious awards are presented to single individuals, teams, institutions, and outstanding process improvement projects that have exemplified the customer service attributes.

Erin Campbell, Paige Phillips, Winter Hall and Lauren O'Byrne from Georgia Southern’s Parent Programs team were recognized with the Team Winner-Gold award. The team was awarded the gold award for innovative programming designed to enhance parent involvement and forge a strong bond between the University, students and their families.

Johnny Eason, a custodian in University Housing was named an Individual Bronze Winner of the 2010 Chancellor's Customer Service Awards for his dedicated service to Georgia Southern students.

Nicole Weller, head teaching professional at The Landings Club, has been selected by Golf Digest magazine for its inaugural list of the ‘Best Young Teachers’ in the game. The honors appear in the November issue of the magazine, which is to be on news stands Oct. 12.

Weller, 38, joined the staff at The Landings Club in 2005, and oversees the entire instruction program for 14 golf professionals, as well as personally instructing numerous individual and family lessons. She creates, manages and markets all the instructional programs, which have included the successful “Farm Team” (instructional clinics and play days for new golfers) and the “Golf Talk” series (evening golf pro demonstrations on various topics).

“This is an outstanding award for Nicole that is well-deserved,” said Tad Sanders, director of golf at The Landings Club. “She is an innovative and intuitive instructor whose diverse credentials allow her to address the various physical and mental impacts on the golf swing.”

Certified by the Titleist Performance Institute as a golf fitness instructor, and with a masters in sport psychology, Weller is one of the most versatile experts in her field. The Lakeville, Mass., native and former Wake Forest standout is a member of the PGA of America, LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Division and AMF Golf Management, having earned various “Teacher of the Year” honors during her career.

Weller and her husband, Ty Weller, Head Golf Professional at the Deer Creek and Oakridge courses at The Landings Club, live in Savannah.
