NEWS - Work Force & Career Development
Walmart is hiring approximately 250 associates to work at the new Walmart slated to open early next year in Savannah. To facilitate applications, the retailer has opened a temporary hiring center at 10010 Abercorn St. in Savannah.
The hiring center began accepting applications Monday, Nov. 8 and will continue accepting applications from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. Interested applicants can apply online at http://walmartstores.com/Careers/7745 .aspx.
According to store manager David Henry, the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. “We are excited to add this Walmart to Savannah and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area,” he said. Henry began his Walmart career in 1998 as a produce sales associate in Pensacola, Fla.
Henry said associates are needed to work in all areas of the new store, including supervisory positions.
Walmart benefits – available to eligible full- and part-time associates – include healthcare insurance with no lifetime maximum. Walmart also offers a 401(k) plan and profit sharing contributions, whether an eligible associate contributes or not, store discount cards, stock purchase program and life insurance. Additionally, associates are eligible for company performance-based bonuses.
The majority of associates will begin work in December to help prepare the store for its grand opening in early 2011.
