Aug. 22 - Parker’s Named One of America’s Fastest-growing Companies for Second Consecutive Year

New store opens in Faulkville

Aug. 22, 2013 – Parker’s, a nationally-recognized convenience store leader with 32 retail locations throughout southeast Georgia and coastal South Carolina, has announced earlier that Inc. ranked the company on its annual Inc. 500|5000 Fastest Growing Companies list. This marks the second consecutive year Parker’s has been included on this elite list, which includes top companies like Microsoft, Timberland, Intuit, Oracle and Zappos.com.

“We’re grateful to Inc. and to our loyal customers for making this honor possible,” said Parker’s president and CEO Greg Parker. “At Parker’s, we are currently preparing for explosive growth in 2014 and beyond. We hope to continue to be one of the nation’s  fastest-growing companies, delivering the ultimate service, the lowest prices and the finest quality to our customers every day.”

The 2013 Inc. 500/5000 list, which will officially be unveiled in the September 2013 issue of Inc., marks the most competitive group of companies in the list's history. To make the cut, companies needed to achieve significant sales growth between 2009 and 2012. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2009 and were required to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit and independent as of Dec. 31, 2012.

The winners will also be recognized at the 32nd Annual Inc. 500|5000 Conference and Awards Ceremony on Oct. 10-12 at the Gaylord National in Washington, D.C.

The Inc. honor follows Parker’s president and CEO Greg Parker being named the 2013 Tech Executive of the Year by Convenience Store News. Parker’s joins a growing list of local companies that have been included on the prestigious Inc. list.

Signifying its growth, Parker’s celebrated the grand opening of a new state-of-the-art location in Effingham County, this week with a special ribbon cutting ceremony. Effingham County Chamber of Commerce representatives helped cut the ribbon at the new Parker’s store.

Located at 3050 Hwy. 80 in Faulkville, the new store is the fourth Parker’s location in Effingham County. The latest Parker’s store features discounted gasoline as well as fountain drinks with the company’s signature Chewy Ice, fresh-brewed ice tea, gourmet coffee blends, frozen drink flavors, a walk-in beer cave, touch-free restrooms and more. Parker’s currently employs more than 400 individuals throughout Georgia and South Carolina.

“The demand for Parker’s is strong in Effingham County,” said Greg Parker, president and CEO of The Parker Companies. “We responded to customer requests for a Parker’s in this location and are pleased with the response from the local community. We look forward to lowering gas prices in Faulkville by offering competitively priced gas and continuing to give back through our PumpPal program and our Fueling the Community program.”

The company’s PumpPal program, which offers discounts of up to 10 cents on every gallon of gas purchased, has saved customers more than $3 million since the program first launched in February of 2011. Today, the PumpPal program has more than 75,000 members throughout Georgia and South Carolina.

Parker’s also features its 1-Cent Wednesday Fueling the Community program at the Faulkville location. On the first Wednesday of every month, Parker’s sets aside one cent of every gallon of gas purchased to donate back to local schools. PumpPal members can designate which Effingham County school they would like their donation to benefit.

Founded in 1976, Parker’s has earned accolades for its PumpPal program, which has saved Parker’s customers nearly $3 million since the program first launched in February of 2011. Today, the PumpPal program has nearly 70,000 members throughout Georgia and South Carolina.

Parker’s also donates one cent of every gallon of gas purchased at all of its convenience stores on the first Wednesday of the month to community schools through the Fueling the Community program. The company’s charitable initiative officially launched in the fall of 2011 and has donated money to public and private schools in every community where Parker’s does business.
