Parker’s Opens Newest Convenience Store in Statesboro

Category: Statesboro / Effingham Area News

Oct. 21, 2013 – Parker’s, a nationally-recognized convenience store leader, celebrated the official grand opening of a new state-of-the-art location in Statesboro, Ga. last week. Statesboro Mayor Joe Brannen, Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce board chair Keely Fennell, and Bulloch County Commissioner Carolyn Ethridge helped cut the ribbon at the newest Parker’s store in Statesboro.

Located at 11012 Hwy 301 South, the 3,200-sq.ft. retail store is the third Parker’s location in Bulloch County. The latest Parker’s store features discounted gasoline as well as fountain drinks with the company’s signature Chewy Ice, fresh-brewed ice tea, gourmet coffee blends, frozen drink flavors, 28-degree beer and more.

The new Statesboro store is the company’s 32nd location. Parker’s currently employs more than 400 individuals throughout Georgia and South Carolina.

“The demand for Parker’s in Bulloch County has been strong, so we’re delighted to open our latest store right here in Statesboro,” said Greg Parker, president and CEO of The Parker Companies. “We’re thrilled to help lower gas prices in the area while giving back to area schools through our Fueling the Community program. We look forward to being part of the Statesboro community for many years to come.”

The company’s PumpPal program, which offers discounts of up to 10 cents on every gallon of gas purchased, has saved customers more than $3 million since the program first launched in February of 2011. Today, the PumpPal program has more than 75,000 members throughout Georgia and South Carolina.

Parker’s also features its 1-Cent Wednesday Fueling the Community program at the Statesboro location. On the first Wednesday of every month, Parker’s sets aside one cent of every gallon of gas purchased to donate back to local schools. PumpPal members can designate which Bulloch County school they would like their donation to benefit.

Parker’s has been ranked on Inc.'s elite list of the top 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. and selected as the Savannah Morning News Entrepreneur of the Year. In April, company president and CEO Greg Parker was honored by Convenience Store News as the 2013 Tech Executive of the Year.

Parker’s currently operates 32 convenience stores across the region and plans to open additional locations in Chatham, Bryan, Liberty, Effingham, Bulloch, Jasper and Beaufort counties.
