Parker’s Presents $3,000 Check to Effingham County Schools as Part of Fueling the Community Program

Nov. 4, 2013– Parker’s, a nationally-recognized convenience store leader, presented a $3,000 Fueling the Community check to Effingham County Schools earlier today at Guyton Elementary School in Guyton, Ga. The unrestricted donation is part of a larger unrestricted charitable contribution to area schools in Georgia and South Carolina.
 
“We’re deeply committed to giving back to every community where Parker’s does business,” said Greg Parker, president and CEO of Parker’s. “I’m a firm believer that education is the key to future success, so it’s truly my pleasure to support the hard-working teachers and administrators at Effingham County Schools.”
 
Parker’s donates one cent of every gallon of gas purchased at all of its convenience stores on the first Wednesday of the month to area schools through the Fueling the Community program. The company’s charitable initiative officially launched in the fall of 2011 and has donated money to public and private schools throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
 
Parker’s customers can sign up for a PumpPal card online at www.PumpPalClub.com to select a school of their choice for their one cent per gallon donation. Existing PumpPal members can access their account online and select a specific school to receive donations.
 
The company’s PumpPal club, which provides discounts of up to 10 cents on every gallon of gas purchased, has saved customers $3 million since the program first launched in February of 2011. Today, the PumpPal program has more than 75,000 members throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
 
Parker’s currently operates 32 convenience stores across the region and plans to open additional locations in Chatham, Liberty, Effingham, Bulloch, Long and Beaufort counties.
 
The company has four locations in Effingham County and employs more than 400 individuals throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
 
Parker’s has been ranked on Inc.'s elite list of the top 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. for two consecutive years Company president and CEO Greg Parker was honored by Convenience Store News as the 2013 Tech Executive of the Year and by the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce as the 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year.
