May 17, 2013 – Liberty County is holding Community Health Expo 2013 on Saturday, June 1 in the Shuman Center at James Brown Park, 800 Tupelo Trail in Hinesville.

The event is being sponsored by Liberty Regional Medical Center, in partnership with the Coastal Health District Health Departments for Liberty and Long counties, Liberty County EMS, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Coastal Georgia.

The event will include free health screenings, including blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, and hemoglobin, as well as clinical breast exams and mammograms.  There will also be representatives on hand from local healthcare agencies, physicians’ offices, and other companies providing health and wellness & nutrition information.

In addition to the health services provided, there will be a blood drive, CPR and AED demonstrations, fingerprinting for kids, a rollover accident simulator, Air Evac demonstrations, and child safety seat proper installation checks.

You can even give yourself a boost by partaking in the free facials and chair massages offered, or really get moving with one of the Zumba or Tai Chi classes provided.  There will also be a fashion show, live music, raffles and door prizes, and multiple food vendors on site..

The kids will have plenty of entertainment as well, with face painting, a hula-hoop contest, bouncy houses and the chance to get an up-close look at a fire truck or ambulance.  Liberty Regional Medical Center will also be sponsoring a Lil’ Patches Clinic – bring in your doll or stuffed animal, and they will give them a free checkup.

A 3K Fun Run/Walk will kick off the event at 10 a.m. The first 50 participants to register will receive a free t-shirt.  The Expo will wrap up at 2 p.m.
