Bouhan Falligant announces construction of major New Office Building on south end of Forsyth Park

June 15, 2016 - Bouhan Falligant, LLP announced today it will soon begin construction on a new office building at One West Park Avenue, on the south side of Forsyth Park. The three-story, 18,000-square-foot building will be completed in spring 2017.

The firm’s offices are currently in The Armstrong House, on the north end of the park, one of the most iconic buildings in Georgia.  That building has been sold to developer and hotelier Richard Kessler.

“For the past several years our firm has been evaluating our need for quarters with more modern technologies and efficiencies. At our new facility, the firm will continue to provide quality advice and counsel for our clients,” said Lea Holliday, managing partner of Bouhan Falligant. “We looked a long time; we wanted to stay in the city,” he explained, about the decision on the site selection.

“We look forward to being good neighbors and part of all of the exciting growth occurring south of the park,” Holliday emphasized, outlining an extensive process to develop a design that will be an enchancement to the firm’s new neighborhood.

The building will be a highly detailed, brick-veneered building with cast stone elements, most closely resembling the monumental architecture from the Federal style period, and will face the park.

The primary design features include regularly spaced pilasters, topped with cast stone capitals, which support a classical motif brick entablature. The heavy stone cornice above the pilasters will wrap the entire building. Though the exterior will be traditional, the interior will be clean, crisp and incorporate all of the features of modern efficient office design.

Brian Felder was the Architect, according to Holliday, and the legal firm is “very, very close” to completing contract negotiations with their selected general contractor, which has therefore not been announced.

All design, site, parking and materials permitting has been completed for the project, which is in the city’s Victorian District, though there will be some further permitting regarding building footings and other construction phases, that will be addressed after the contractor begins their work. Construction is anticipating to get undeway "right away," he added.

The new building’s address is currently an empty lot. There will be some parking available on the site, but additional off-site parking contracts have been negotiated to comply with the city’s parking space requirements, Holliday stated.

“We believe this will be an important building in the city,” adding that they worked closely with the city and the MPC, and incorporated suggested changes into the final design.

“We had an excellent experience working with the City,” he said..

Bouhan Falligant, which is celebrating its 130th year in business this year, handles a broad range of complex legal matters in litigation, estate planning, corporate law, commercial and residential real estate, bankruptcy, and admiralty and maritime law.

The firm’s attorneys also care deeply about the community where they live and work, and volunteer thousands of hours of service to almost every major nonprofit in this area each year, according to the firm.
