SBJ Staff Report

Oct 10, 2011 - A new retail store featuring products for babies will open this week, Savannah Baby Co., a Savannah-based, locally owned boutique featuring furniture, gear and gifts “for the modern baby,” according to Robin Moore, owner. The store is located at 5301 Paulsen in the Medical Arts neighborhood.

The store will carry lines of furniture, baby gear (such as strollers) and gifts for the style-conscious parent as well as eco-friendly cloth diapers and organic cotton clothing, sheets, and mattresses.

When owner Moore had her first child, she found that she needed to travel to Miami or Atlanta to find some of the brands she was looking for, and she was not alone - many of her friends were doing the same thing.

"Baby furniture and baby gear have experienced a burst of innovation and style," said Moore. "There are amazing new lines that complement every home, as well as strollers that are light, compact, and gorgeous. Many new mothers want an easy stroller for everyday use as well as a great fitness stroller. Savannah Baby Co. carries a wide variety of both."

The store stocks brands familiar to many with an ear (and eye) toward style, she adds, including Dwell Studio, Dutailier, Baby Jogger, Barefoot Dreams, Stephen Joseph, Zutano, Trumpette, Urban Smalls, Brito, Cybex, Dekor, Ergo Baby, Peg-Perego, Mamaroo, Origami, Earth Mama Angel Baby, KidCo, Eco-Kids, Manhattan Toy, Bambino Mio, Pbnj Baby, iPlay, MD Moms, Goody Goody, ALEX Toys, Zebi Baby, Sassafras, Reisenthel, Life Factory, blabla, Baby KTan, zoe b Organic, Dabbawalla Bags, Yala, Itzy Ritzy and more.

In addition to making a difference in how a home and nursery look, Moore plans to donate five percent of sales to CURE Childhood Cancer.

"I have seen this charity in action, and it makes a tremendous difference in the lives of families that have children with cancer," she states. "Most of us are fortunate enough to not need their assistance, but it's important to me-and to every parent I know-to do our part for families who do."

The store will be open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They have website at www.savannahbabyco.com and can be reached at 912-480-0212.
