Sept. 17 - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Kicks Off Light The Night Fall Campaign at Rescheduled HeroFest on Sept. 29

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

September 17, 2019 - A group of local business owners have teamed up to Bring Light to the Darkness of Cancer. The team, led by Tersh and Julie Blissett of Icebound HVAC, will be hosting a family friendly event called Hero Fest. Due to the threat of Hurricane Dorian, they had to reschedule the original event day, and will now kickoff the annual Light The Night fundraising campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 2-7 p.m. at Red Gate Farms. This event is meant to honor all of those affected by cancer and will introduce the 2019 Light The Night Super Heroes, 5 Savannah area pediatric cancer survivors.

Local community heroes including Military, Police, Fire, and EMS are also coming together as Heroes supporting Super Heroes. They will be on site with their vehicles and K9’s offering fun activities for kids and families. Additionally, local restaurants and food trucks will be on site serving up some of Savannah’s finest tastings. For a full list of participating restaurants and agencies, visit https://tinyurl.com/HeroFestSAV

Tickets for Hero Fest are available for purchase on Eventbrite or through the event’s Facebook page. All proceeds will directly benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Savannah Light The Night. “At Light The Night, it is our aim to bring light to the darkness of cancer through research and cures. We are taking steps together to end cancer,” said Lauren Mathews, LLS Campaign Manager. “The light and warmth we generate delivers hope in time of despair, community in place of loneliness, and life-saving research and support for cancer patients and their families.” This year’s Light The Night will be held on Saturday, November 9th, at Memorial Health.
