Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

October 29, 2019 - On Friday, Nov. 1, Forsyth Farmers’ Market will host a pop up market at its office at 2603 Mechanics Ave, on the Wesley Oaks Church campus. The market will last from 3-6 p.m. Fifteen of Forsyth Farmers’ Market regular vendors will be in attendance. This will represent vendors who sell produce, meat, eggs, cheese and baked goods. In addition, Wesley Oaks Methodist Church will be offering tours of its historic sanctuary.

Generally, Forsyth Farmers’ Market closes for Rock N Roll Marathon weekend, as the race takes over the entire south end of Forsyth Park. Two weeks ago, the market closed when Tropical Storm Nestor came across our area. Forsyth Farmers’ Market decides that in an effort to reduce the economic impact on farmers for having not having two markets in three weeks, to host a pop up market away from downtown.

Executive Director Jeb Bush stated, “The end of October/early November is one the best growing seasons in our area. Summer produce is still available and winter items such as greens and root vegetables are also being harvested. We are excited to offer this opportunity to local farmers to have a market to help offset the loss of the tropical storm and Rock N Roll Marathon. I definitely encourage everyone to come out and support the local farmers and small local businesses.”

The market will resume its normal hours and location on Nov. 9.
