May 10-Business Buzzzzzzzz

Kudos to Photos By Becky and its owner Becky Smith for taking wonderful pet pics at the recent Doggie Carnival downtown, and especially for donating all her proceeds for the day to the Humane Society.

Hats off again to the Savannah area mail carriers for last Saturday’s “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive, collecting desperately needed food for America’s Second Harvest Food Bank.

Lots of people are going back to school during the recession, and that especially includes schools like our own Savannah Tech. Spring enrollment at Georgia’s 28 technical colleges, which includes Savannah Tech, was up 19% over the same time period last year. Thanks much to everyone at Savannah Tech for helping so many people get back on their feet.

Don’t know much about doing business online? The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Google announced a new partnership and unveiled “Tools for Online Success,” an array of online resources and training designed to help small business owners harness technology to grow their businesses.  The “Tools for Online Success” site (http://www.google.com/help/sba) features tutorials, video testimonials, and tips from savvy small business people who have leveraged the web to become more efficient, more cost-effective, and more successful.

Congrats to The Coastal Bank’s Pooler branch on Highway 80 for their grand re-opening and their brand new look.

Atta boy (and girl!) to Wilmington Cabinet Company. They opened their new downtown design center last week at 2514 Abercorn.
