A bill to allow mega-resort casinos in Florida appears dead this year in the Florida House of Representatives 2012 session. Proposed by Rep. Erik Fresen, R-Miami, he pulled the bill on Friday during committee hearings, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal, before a sub-committee hearing, knowing he did not have support for the legislation to get out of committee.
No final vote was taken. "I think if there had been a vote, it's pretty clear it would have been defeated today,'' David Hart, a vice president of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, which was an influential opponent of the bill, told the newspaper on Friday.
