Jan 16 - Lavender Hill Spa Salon Named Bryan County's 'Business of the Year' at Annual Meeting

SBJ Staff Report

Jan 16, 2012 – The Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Meeting and Banquet last Thursday evening with more than 100 local business executives and owners in attendance. Congressman Jack Kingston was on hand to congratulate the Chamber on its work, and the evening’s honorees.

The ‘Business of the Year’ winners were Karen Guither and Carole Brogdon, owners of Lavender Hill Spa Salon located at the Crossroads Center,  2709 Coastal Highway 17 in Richmond Hill.

The salon opened in 2006, and has grown from five to 19 employees, according to Brianne Yontz, the Chamber’s executive director.  “In addition to providing 19 jobs in Richmond Hill, which is a significant number, they are also heavily involved in the community. I don’t think they say ‘no’ to anybody,” she said.

And, Nikki Palmer, owner of Palmer Chiropractic, was honored as ‘Ambassador of the Year,’ at the banquet.

In his keynote address, Kingston said that he continues to support a new interchange at the Belfast development that offers industrial space for companies servicing the Savannah and Brunswick ports, saying they have significant impact on Bryan County’s economic future.

He also continued to lobby for changing federal laws to require drug testing of all recipients of welfare. Kingston is a co-sponsor of a bill he authored now before Congress.

Robbie King was the outgoing Chamber Chairman Robbie King, turning over the gavel to John Reynolds, owner of RPI roofing of Richmond Hill.

King also took a moment to thank Bonnie Proctor, who is retiring after 20 years of working for the local Chamber.
