Chamber and SEDA to Host Manufacturers Appreciation Event

On Thursday, Sept. 17, the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating the manufacturing industry in Savannah at the Manufacturers Appreciation Breakfast. The event will be at the same site as the Chamber’s 16th Annual Business Expo and Car Show, and attendees will be the first to enter the EXPO after the event.
It is being co-hosted by the Savannah Economic Development Authority (SEDA). According to SEDA’s Savannah Economic Trends 2009 report, Savannah MSA’s manufacturing firms create essentially a fifth (19.8 percent) of the area’s economic prosperity as measured in GDP, accounting for $2.026 billion of this activity in 2006, the latest year reported by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The number of manufacturing establishments grew 2.8 percent in the Savannah CMSA to 291 establishments employing 15,960 workers in 2007.
