Category: Technology & Innovation

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

June 28, 2018 - Ian Reddick, of Savannah, Georgia, conceptualized Reddick Design Co. in the fall of 2017 with a goal to complete his first fully collapsible customized modular guitar by the summer of 2018, called the Mercury. The Mercury guitar is unique in that is it a entirely collapsible, completely customized, professional quality module guitar designed for career musicians who frequently travel. The Mercury fits into a standard carry-on suitcase and assembles from parts to pitch in under two minutes without any tools required. It is currently handmade in Savannah, Georgia and will be showcased this week at the 2018 summer NAMM (The National Association of Music Merchants,) show located in Nashville, Tennessee.

As Reddick Design prepares to head to Nashville with three customized prototypes of the Mercury it will simultaneously launch a Kickstarter campaign. The Kickstarter campaign is aimed at raising funds for complete product production of the Mercury from the necessary tools to the facility fees, thus aiming to keep production in Savannah, Georgia.

Founder and creator, Ian Reddick, is particularly excited about both launching the Kickstarter campaign and attending NAMM stating that the “vision of this guitar has been floating in my head for quite some time and this is the opportunity to bring it to fruition.”  Both the Kickstarter campaign and NAMM are “platforms where I will be able to judge how the product is received and if there is a viable community interested in this product to keep production going.”
