Sept. 27 - Step Up Savannah's 12th annual meeting and breakfast to be held Oct. 12

September 27, 2017 - Join Step Up and local business, neighborhood, and community leaders to learn the stories of families who struggle with financial insecurity and discuss the ways that we can provide pathways to prosperity in our own community. They will also celebrate the winners of their Creating Opportunity Awards.

About Rachel Schneider

Rachel Schneider is senior vice president at the Center for Financial Services Innovation, an organization dedicated to improving the financial health of Americans. Rachel is a sought-after expert who speaks and publishes broadly about issues in consumer finance, offering frank, insightful assessments of the financial challenges facing the majority of Americans.

Her research has been featured in the nation’s top publications, such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, and many others.

Though she began her career as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch & Co., Rachel credits her commitment to the potential for innovative finance to solve major social problems to her days as an AmeriCorps VISTA. She holds a J.D./M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. from UC Berkeley. Rachel has recently co-authored “The Financial Diaries” with Jonathon Morduch based on the results from their groundbreaking study, US Financial Diaries.

Step Up is asking attendees to bring books to support Savannah Chatham County Public School System’s Balanced Literacy Million Book Challenge to the annual meeting. Books should be in good condition and appropriate for grades K to 5.
