May 4 - Learn Statistical and Financial Tools to Grow Your Business with SCORE

Category: Business Events

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

May 4, 2018 - This workshop, the fifth in the series, will introduce participants to a range of analytical tools enabling them to generate performance data critical to the successful management of their businesses.

The speaker, Greg Stinson, will share his experience in entrepreneurship, which came about following a successful corporate career. Greg and his wife started a small business in a new industry which produced sustained profitability within a period of sixteen months. They were able to pay off a seven-year business loan in five years, later selling the business in 2017 to enjoy retirement.

Workshop attendees will learn:

  • The difference between Standard and Custom reports.
    • The discussion will help you determine what aspects of your business analysis can be performed with “off-of-the shelf reports” and how much of your decision making must rely on “specialized” reports. You will also be shown how to determine when you need to dig deeper to find the information you need.
  • The differences between information reports, analytical reports and research and how to apply each of these different tools to your business.
  • The importance of knowing your business cash flow breakeven point where income equals expense. Thereafter is profit. The speaker will demonstrate a simple tool for measuring the breakeven point and how it can be easily adapted to your use in smart management.
  • What measurements are critical to your business success. The speaker will show samples of the tools he found to be effective.
  • How to build your individual deck of reports aimed at facilitating business growth.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, May 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SCORE conference room at 111 E. Liberty St. $10 for Chamber members, $15 for non-members. Register today by calling SCORE at (912) 652-4335.
