June 17 - St. Joseph’s/Candler Urgent Care Offers Veterans a Faster Urgent Care Option

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

June 17, 2019 - U.S. Veterans no longer have to book an appointment at a VA facility for minor medical conditions. They can simply walk into a St. Joseph’s/Candler Urgent Care location and be seen immediately.

Under the new Veterans Affairs Department's Mission Act, the locations will now be able to treat veterans on a walk-in basis. No appointment is ever necessary.

Minor medical conditions include, but are not limited to: flu-like symptoms, strep throat, minor burns, pink eye, ear/skin infections, x-rays, lab testing and medications.

“It’s an honor to serve those who’ve bravely served this country,” said Dr. Stephen Pohl, Medical Director of St. Joseph’s/Candler Urgent Care. “I look forward to being able to offer vets quick, easy, and convenient access to quality medical care.”

Veterans can arrive at St. Joseph’s/Candler Urgent Care and simply let the clinic know they would like to use their VA Urgent Care benefits. The clinic will then confirm Veteran eligibility before providing care.  Before the new law took effect, the VA would pay for private care only when veterans had to drive more than 40 miles or wait more than 30 days for a VA appointment.

St. Joseph’s/Candler Urgent Care operates 7 days a week.

The St. Joseph’s Candler Urgent Care clinics are modern, state-of-the art facilities providing walk-in care for minor illnesses and injuries seven days a week, including holidays.  Licensed providers are available to perform procedures like splinting and suturing, in addition to being equipped with digital x-ray, laboratory services and an electronic medical records (EMR) system.

With 7 convenient locations in Bluffton, Savannah, Hinesville, Pooler, Rincon and Statesboro, the St. Joseph’s/Candler Urgent Care clinics operate as seamless extensions of the St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System. For addresses, hours and additional information on services offered by St. Joseph’s/Candler Urgent Care, visitwww.YourImmediateCareCenters.com.
