Nov. 11 - ‘Humana Honor’ Medicare Advantage Plan is Recommended by USAA and Affirms Humana’s Commitment to Veterans in Georgia

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

November 11, 2019- Humana Inc. recently announced that its Humana Honor Medicare Advantage plan for 2020 is recommended by USAA, a mission-driven organization committed to facilitating the financial security of current and former members of the US military and their families. The Humana Honor plan is available in several counties across Georgia and is accessible to anyone with Medicare but is designed to complement the benefits a veteran may receive through Veterans Affairs health care. Humana Honor also boosts Humana’s Medicare Advantage slate of plans that are available to all Medicare-eligible individuals, offering affordable health benefits and wellness programs with added convenience and a holistic focus on health and well-being.

Highlights of 2020 Humana Honor Medicare Advantage plan for Georgia (plan # H5216-217):

  • The plan has a $0 monthly premium and also gives enrollees back $50 per month to apply toward their Medicare Part B premium.
  • The plan carries a “Recommended by USAA” seal.
  • Enrolling in Humana Honor may augment VA benefits by covering health care services at non-VA facilities.
  • Humana Honor provides access to robust dental coverage including a $2,000 annual dental allowance.
  • The Humana Honor plan offers a broad network of doctors, hospitals and other health care professionals, including Urgent Care access.

Humana’s coordinated effort in creating a Medicare Advantage plan may appeal to the needs of veterans is an important milestone in helping veterans overcome barriers to achieving their best health.

“The launch of Humana Honor is a natural next step in our commitment to veterans and their families in Georgia and we’re pleased to have this plan recommended by USAA,” said Matthew Moore, south region Medicare president at Humana. “Veterans can have multiple choices in health care options and we understand that their health goes beyond physical symptoms – well-being encompasses a healthy body and mind – and our 2020 Humana Honor plan is open to everyone with Medicare but reinforces our history of supporting the total care our veterans need, not just in the doctor’s office.”

“USAA has worked with Humana for many years to bring Medicare related products to our members,” said Mary Forey, assistant vice president of Health Solutions Product Management at USAA. “We are excited about the opportunity to offer a plan that has been designed with veterans in mind and may complement the VA benefits they have honorably earned in service to their country.”

Humana Honor consists of 17 plans, available in 28 states across the country. In Georgia, plans are available in the following counties: Baker, Barrow, Bibb, Bartow, Bryan, Burke, Chatham, Chattahoochee, Cherokee, Clarke, Clayton, Cobb, Columbia, Coweta, Crawford, DeKalb, Dougherty, Douglas, Effingham, Elbert, Fayette, Floyd, Forsyth, Fulton, Greene, Gwinnett, Harris, Henry, Houston, Jackson, Jones, Lee, Liberty, Lincoln, Madison, Marion, McDuffie, Meriwether, Monroe, Morgan, Muscogee, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Paulding, Peach, Pickens, Putnam, Richmond, Rockdale, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Terrell, Troup, Twiggs, Walton, Webster and Worth.
