Jan. 15 - The Darling Oyster Bar Opening Location in Savannah

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

January 15, 2020 - The Darling Oyster Bar, located in Charleston, S.C. recently announced that they are opening a second location in Savannah, G.A. The Darling Oyster Bar first opened their doors in the Spring of 2016 and has become widely known to Holy City visitors and locals.

The sister restaurant will be located at 27 Montgomery St. looking on to Franklin Park. The building dates back to the 1800’s and the team plans on spending the next year restoring and preserving the history of the building, while renovating the space. Smith Hanes out of Atlanta, G.A., who designed the interior of the Charleston location will be a part of the team and Andrew Lynch of Lynch Associates Architects will be lead architect.

The team at the Darling were very mindful of where they wanted to open a second location. After countless visits and meeting with city officials, Savannah was the top choice. “After we opened The Darling in Charleston and we saw how much our guests enjoy dining with us, we knew we wanted to open a second location,” says Robert Young, co-owner and partner. “Having our second location in Savannah is really exciting, we love the city and the people and look forward to bringing our menu, raw bar and cocktail program for everyone to enjoy.”

The Savannah location will house a raw bar, full menu with highlighted seafood dishes that have become mainstays in Charleston and a full cocktail program with locally sourced spirits and brews. Diners can expect a similar design aesthetic from the flagship location with nods to Savannah’s history and beauty.
