Oct. 6 - From Drowning to Dysentery: A Deadly Look at Fort Pulaski

Category: Hospitality & Tourism

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

October 6, 2017 - Fort Pulaski might not have its own ghost story, but the island has certainly witnessed its fair share of the macabre. On Oct. 20 and 21, join park staff for a special ranger-led lantern tour into the darker history of Cockspur Island.

From Drowning to Dysentery will be offered at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. both evenings, and will last approximately 75 minutes. Due to program content and safety concerns, only those ages 16 and over will be permitted. Tour participants should be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to maneuver in low lighting. It is recommended that participants dress for the weather and wear comfortable footwear.

Spaces are limited, so reserve yours now. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased by calling 912-786-4383 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., seven days per week. Gates will open a half hour before each tour starts. Tours will meet at the Fort Pulaski cemetery. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour, and keep in mind that you may be delayed due to the construction on the Cockspur Island Bridge. Guests arriving late may not be able to participate in their tour.
