FEATURE Visit Savannah Reports on Savannah, Chatham and Tybee Island Hotel/Motel Tax Collections

Category: Hospitality & Tourism

By Lou Phelps, SBJ

September 1, 2019 - Visit Savannah compiles City of Savannah, Chatham County and Tybee Island hotel/motel tax collection data, Savannah area hotel occupancy and Savannah area ADR (average daily rate) each month, based on data provide by the State of Georgia.

While the City of Savannah’s collection dollars increased, and Tybee Island had a good June relative to revenues, there was a significant decline in all other collections in Chatham County, and occupancy rates were down across the county.

And in the City of Savannah, the average daily rate that hotels earned was also down significantly, which may be a function of the increased inventory that has come online in 2019, according to tourism sources.

Here is the most recently released information for the month of June, 2019.
