Oct. 21 - SPD to Participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

October 21, 2019 - The Savannah Police Department will be participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, set for Saturday, Oct. 26, by offering two sites to dispose of unused or expired medication.

The two collection sites will be located at Savannah Police Headquarters, 201 Habersham Street, and Central Precinct, 1710 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Drug Enforcement Association sets two national take back days a year and explains that the goal is to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

Savannah Police provides a year-long disposal site at headquarters, where community members have access to safely dispose of their prescription medication. Savannah Police encourages individuals to partake in this day and to routinely dispose of unused or expired medication to ensure it does not get into the possession of unauthorized users.
