July 30 - Phone Scam Warning Issued by Chatham County Sheriff's Office

Category: Law

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

July 30, 2018 - Concerned citizens have reported receiving calls from fake deputies claiming to work for the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. The caller may attempt to arrange a meeting in a parking lot to exchange money or demand payment over the phone. The false intention often stated is to satisfy an urgent legal issue.

Deputies never inform citizens of warrants over the phone, and scams like this have been a common occurrence in Chatham County. It is important to always be incredibly cautious before ever providing personal or financial information to any unknown caller.
