January 20, 2020 - The Chatham County Police Department presented a summary of its Strategic Plan this morning to the Chatham County Commission, and released the document to the public on its website at .

The Strategic Plan will serve as the blueprint for the department moving forward, and features five key focus areas that the department will prioritize through 2023.

“The Strategic Plan will help make us a better, stronger and more accountable police department,” said Chatham County Police Chief Jeffrey M. Hadley. “The community will know exactly what we are working on day-to-day, and the results we expect to achieve.”

The five key focus areas are Organization Structure and Personnel, Community Trust and Engagement, Technology Infrastructure and Innovation, Focused Crime Prevention and Response, and Traffic Safety.

The Strategic Plan is the result of nearly a year of surveying, meeting and planning with the public, stakeholders, department leadership, officers and civilian staff.

“As a new department that will celebrate its second anniversary on February 1, we knew it was important to have substantial community input about what citizens’ needs are and the kind of police department they wanted to serve their area,” said Hadley. “Listening to the people of unincorporated Chatham County was the crucial first step that allowed us to prioritize and focus in on the issues that will make the most difference to our citizens, and to those who serve the department.”
