Aug 9 - Lyndy Brannen Retires From The Morning Show on WJCL-TV

Aug.9, 2010 - One of Savannah’s institutions in local news, Lyndy Brannen, has announced his retirement as of this Friday, Aug. 13. His current news director and boss, Michael Sullivan, has written a wonderful piece on Lyndy that can be seen at

Brannen was given another chapter in his news career when WJCL-TV, Savannah’s ABC affiliate, picked him up as part of Sullivan’s decision to add an early morning news show at his station to compete with WSAV’s and WTOC’s early hours shows.  Brannen had been let go by WSAV.

Brannen is not retiring from his current radio show on WRHQ 105.3, owned by Cumulus Broadcasting.

Sullivan and Brannen began working together at WSAV in 1995; Sullivan was cut loose there as well, and after some time as a media consultant joined WJCL and Fox, now owned by New Vision Television of Atlanta and Los Angeles.

“When he became available, I jumped at the chance of bringing him back to The Coastal Source to join our morning program, report, and share his endless stories at St. Patrick’s Day parades. We’ve been together for three years again and managed to survive “Making News: Savannah Style,” when our stations were profiled (kind of) nationally. And he has co-anchored with Jessica Kiss, Jonathan Myers, Renee Kennedy on traffic, and Cap’n Judy with her Fishin’ Report to build The Morning Show into one stop shopping for news, weather, entertainment, and a watchable television family to start anyone’s day,” Sullivan writes.

Just a clarification - WRHQ (Quality Rock Q105.3) is owned by Thoroughbred Communications.
