Sept. 18 - Small Business Assistance Corporation Announces New Team Members

September 18, 2019 - A local non-profit economic development organization known as Small Business Assistance Corporation (SBAC) recently announced the addition of two new members to their team, Kara Fortney and Angelique Serrano.

Kara Fortney, a graduate of Liberty University with over twenty years of business experience, brings extensive knowledge of business and management to SBAC. Ms. Fortney has consulted, established and managed businesses including hospitality, retail, convenience stores, automotive, printing, and leisure travel in Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, and coastal Mississippi. Most recently she consulted with a family trust to develop strategies to enhance the value and use of their portfolio of commercial real estate holdings as well as the establishment of new businesses and the revitalization of existing businesses.

As SBAC’s Microloan Program Manager, Ms. Fortney is responsible for managing the Microloan programs at SBAC and provide management and technical assistance to borrowers to help increase business knowledge, strengthen management capacity, and assist with business development.

 

Angelique Serrano joins SBAC with expertise in non-profit and government services, as well as hospitality management and customer service. A local to both Richmond Hill and Savannah, GA, Angelique attended Savannah State University from 2014-2017 where she become a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society. After graduating magna cum laude in Business Administration with a major in Business Management, she went on to complete a Masters of Business Administration at Savannah State University in 2018.

 

Ms. Serrano’s duties as Community Development Associate at SBAC will include supporting local communities and organizational growth to effectively improve the contribution towards a sustainable business community.
