April 25 - The public is invited to attend a Meet and Greet reception for newly appointed City Manager Rochelle D. Small-Toney from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, in the Savannah Civic Center Ballroom. Ms. Small-Toney is Savannah’s sixth City Manager since the Council-Manager form of government was adopted in 1954. She is responsible for almost 2,500 employees and an annual budget of more than $270 million.
Ms. Small-Toney has more than 30 years of experience in the public sector, including service for the past year as Savannah’s Acting City Manager. A native of Wilmington, N.C., she received her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She worked as a Budget and Personnel Analyst for the City of Wilmington from1981-1991; Assistant to the City Manager and Assistant City Manager of Danville, Va., from 1991-1999; Assistant City Manager of Charlottesville, Va., from 1999-2007; and Assistant City Manager for the City of Savannah from 2007-2010.
