Oct. 8 - 2019 Chatham County Faith-Based Emergency Preparedness Summit

October 8, 2019 - On Friday, Oct. 18 Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) and Georgia Southern University are hosting the 2019 Chatham County Faith-Based Emergency Preparedness Summit at the Armstrong Center beginning at 8 a.m. Faith-based leaders and members are encouraged to attend to learn about initiatives already taking place in Chatham County and develop new skills that will assist in our endeavor to make our County disaster resilient.

Guest speakers include FEMA’s Office of Faith and Opportunity Initiatives Director, New York City Office of Emergency Management’s Faith-Based Coordinator, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents. Breakout sessions will focus on protecting your house of worship from an active shooter, Stop the Bleed, Chatham County’s Hurricane Registry, Disaster Spiritual Care and Chatham County’s Disaster Faith Network.

There will also be a resource area for attendees that includes several non-profit and faith-based organizations that provide services to houses of worship or may present ways to individuals to get involved in disaster assistance.
