Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

October 15, 2019 - Fort Pulaski National Monument is seeking public input on a proposed fee implementation for the Lazaretto Creek area that includes the boat ramp and fishing pier within the park. This area of the park is located along U.S. Highway 80 between the park entrance station and the Lazaretto Creek Bridge and features a boat ramp, fishing pier, and vehicle parking.

The twenty year agreements for Chatham County to maintain the park have expired. The National Park Service resumed day to day management of the area and boat ramp in July 2019. A day fee has been proposed of $10 per vehicle, per day or $50 per vehicle, per year beginning Jan. 1, 2020. A meeting for public input regarding this proposal will be held at Fort Pulaski’s Visitor Center on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 5:30 PM.
