March 29, 2017 - Looking for more freelance gigs? Publications from all across Metro Atlanta and Georgia will be attending the ‘SPJ Georgia Freelance Job Fair’ event May 6 in Atlanta, sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists/Georgia Pro Chapter.

Media companies in need of writers, photographers and other talented journalists will be attending.

“Did you know freelancers have to file their taxes FOUR times a year?  Are you writing off enough expenses?  Learn more about the world of freelancing with an H&R Block tax specialist to answer all of your questions,” explains Ellen Eldridge, president of the Georgia Chapter of the SPJ, just one of the sessions planned for the session.

Publications on hand will include the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta’s NPR Station WABE, Decaturish, Atlanta Jewish Times, Atlanta Intown, Coastal Empire News, Atlanta Magazine and many others.

“And, don’t forget your business cards; not only is it a great networking opportunity, there will be a raffle, as well,” according to Dan Whisenhunt, President-Elect of the SPJ/Georgia Pro Chapter, and Editor & Publisher of Decaturish.com.

Sessions will be held on:

  • Using social media to further your freelance career
  • Managing your network on LinkedIn
  • H&R Block with tips on how freelancers can handle taxes
  • Website design

The cost is just $20 per person. Lunch is included.

The SPJ Georgia Freelance Job Fair will be held Sat, May 6, 2017, form 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 223 Perimeter Center Parkway Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30346.
